This is an attractive country house chest on stand which dates to the late Georgian era.
Made of mahogany and walnut with attractive cross banding and matched veneers it is a quality piece which is well made, solid and heavy.
The chest is not especially large but will provide a good amount of storage in any home.
It is an elegant and timeless piece which has a lot of character.
The top section is fitted with four spacious drawers which are finished with later brass handles set on ornate backplates. The drawers run fairly well and the interiors are in rustic but clean condition.
The chest is set on a stand which has three further drawers, cabriole legs and is finished with slipper feet.
The wood has a polished finish which has a nicely aged patina.
CONDITION
The chest is generally in good structural condition with many small cosmetic marks of age and use and various areas of repaired veneer.
The handles are later replacements.
The drawers run fairly well and the interiors are in clean condition with various gaps to the bases.
There is old inactive woodworm to the back boards and the veneer to the side panels is crazed.
It has an elegantly aged look and is generally in good condition for its age.
