Vintage Oak Filing Cabinet by Staverton
This is a handsome large vintage filing cabinet dating to 1954.
Made by Staverton Builders Ltd of Devon these cabinets were made for use by the government or ministry of defence to store important documents and files.
The cabinet is made of oak, oak veneer and mixed woods and is one solid piece. It is fairly tall and narrow and quite shallow in depth, ideal for an alcove or a room with limited space.
The front houses five spacious filing compartments with lift up fronts which slide back inside the cabinet. The interior of each compartment is partitioned.
This cabinet is rather special as it still has its original wooden keeper to the right hand side, these are often removed.
The wood is a golden oak colour with a varnished finish which has worn in places over time.
The cabinet is in good structural condition with many small marks of age and use to the varnished finish. There is a small patch repair to the bottom of one side panel and there are various small dents, knocks and scratches that have been filled with wax filler over the years.
each internal compartment measures 28cms wide x 30cms deep x 25cms high
The measurements are taken at the widest points.
