Victorian Country Pine Glazed Dresser with Yellow Interior
This is a handsome Victorian pine dresser which dates to around 1880.
It is fairly large, heavy and solid but has the benefit of splitting into two parts which makes it easy to transport and position into any home.
The dresser has a rustic country look which will suit a farmhouse or cottage, the perfect piece if you love well aged pine.
The dresser base has panelled doors flanked by applied half spindle decorations. The doors are set under two spacious drawers finished with turned wooden handles. The doors open to reveal a useful shelf for storage.
The top of the dresser is fitted with glazed doors which front two fixed shelves. The shelves have beading towards the back to display plates and the back of the dresser is panelled.
The dresser is set on a deep base plinth and the top has shallow cornicing.
The wood has a natural looking waxed finish which has a nice sheen, the interior of the top section has a pale yellow painted interior which is nicely aged looking.
The dresser is in generally good structural condition with various marks of age and use to the wood. Inside is quite rustic looking, the wood has been treated for wood worm.
There have been a couple of repairs, a piece of edging along the top edge of base has been replaced and on the bottom of the dresser at the back there have been two small sections of wood replaced due to woodworm damage. The top cornicing may have been reduced in height at some point in time.
Basically it is well aged and rustic but rather smashing.
shelf heights, bottom 34.5cms, middle 33.5cms, top 33cms
shelf depth 24.5cms, shelf width 113cms
The measurements are taken at the widest points and the dresser splits into two parts.
