This is a charming little country chair which dates to the late 1800's, it is perfect for a rustically inspired home, a nice finishing touch for any room.
Made of elm the chair has an unusual design with a spindle back which has three small black wooden beads near the bottom. The chair is set on a stretchered base and is finished with lower rails, every time I look at it it reminds me of sledges but maybe that's just because of the recent snow!
The wood is very aged and it has immense character and a sense of history.
The chair is in good solid structural condition with many marks to the wood, the back to legs have quite a lot of old inactive wood worm holes which have been treated as a precaution. The back rest has a small patched repair to the left hand side and the seat has many marks of age and use, one of the wooden beads is cracked.
height to seat- 37cms
height to top of backrest- 78.5cms
The measurements are taken at the widest points.
