Small Antique Grey Painted Cabinet
This is a useful little cabinet which dates to the early 20th century.
Made of mahogany and mixed woods this piece is ideal for use in a lounge, dining room or office, perfect for storing small items. It would fit well into a fireside alcove due to its compact size which is comparable in size to a wide bedside cabinet.
The cabinet is simply styled with two panelled doors to the front which open to reveal a single fixed shelf.
The cabinet is set on small cabriole legs to the front and simple block legs to the rear.
The doors are lockable and the key is present.
I have hand painted the cabinet in my own mix of earthy grey eggshell paint before distressing the finish for an aged look. The paintwork is solid colour and has been waxed for protection, the finish has a very low sheen.
The cabinet has some marks of age and use to the wood below the painted finish. The right hand door has a very small shrinkage crack near the top and the side panels have some old screw holes.
It may have once been part of a larger piece of furniture that has been adapted into a smaller piece.
