Large Vintage Black Painted Bank Of Shop Drawers
This is a superbly useful bank of drawers which dates to the mid 20th century.
This piece was originally used as a shop counter in a shoe shop but could serve a variety of uses in a domestic or commercial setting. It is fairly large and lends itself well to use as a shop counter, kitchen island or perhaps for use in an art studio.
The chest is made from pine and mixed woods and is well made, solid and heavy. It is set on a deep recessed base plinth and fitted with six spacious drawers finished with antique metal cup handles. Above the drawers are two small sliding doors which front a useful storage space.
The drawer interiors are in fairly clean condition and the drawers run well.
I have hand painted the chest in my own mix of water based black paint before lightly distressing the finish for a gently aged look. The paintwork is solid colour and has been waxed for protection, the finish is fairly matt and smooth.
The top of the chest is a later addition and is made from two panels of pine which have been treated in Osmo-oil, a hardwearing wax oil product which is fairly matt.
The chest is generally in good structural condition with various cosmetic marks of age and use. The back has been finished with a new piece of plywood and the drawer fronts have some marks and small dents. The drawer interiors have various marks to the bases.
