Large Black Vintage Painted Oak Desk
This is a handsome vintage desk which dates to the mid 20th century,
The desk is made from oak and mixed woods and is a substantial piece of furniture that will make a statement piece in any office or study.
The desk separates into three parts for easy transportation.
The desk is quite large and the top is fairly deep and wide, with an evocative style reminiscent of furniture made for the ministry of defence. It would be ideal for use as a plan desk, the spacious top perfect for large paperwork.
The desk has four drawers to the left and three to the right, the lower one is double depth for files.
To the centre there is a further drawer with shaped front, this is flanked by two pull out writing slides.
The desk is set on deep base plinths and the sides are attractively panelled.
I have hand painted the desk in my own mix of black chalk based paint. The paintwork is solid colour and the finish has been lightly distressed before being waxed for protection, the finish is smooth with a very low sheen.
The top of the desk has been stripped back to the natural oak and waxed for protection.
The desk is in solid structural condition, it would probably have once had a central back panel which was missing when we found it.
There are various cosmetic marks of age and use to the top and the drawer interiors have signs of use.
It is generally well aged with many small marks and knocks to the wood here and there, a characterful piece which has a sense of history.
kneehole space measures 66cms high x 69cms wide
