Large Antique Victorian Shipwrights chest with Fitted Interior and working Key
This is a large and handsome antique shipwrights chest dating to the mid 19th century.
Made of solid pine and mahogany it is fairly substantial and very heavy, a well made piece which has seen a very active life, both at sea and on shore.
The chest has a deep lid which opens to reveal a fitted interior with a removable bank of drawers, to the base there is a storage space with slide over lid.
To either end of the chest is an aged black metal handle and the chest is set on a deep base plinth.
The wood has an old worn ebonized finish which is quite matt.
The lid has a natural waxed wood finish.
The lid locks and the key is present.
A splendid piece for use in the home or workshop.
CONDITION
The chest is in solid structural condition with a lot of cosmetic marks of age and use.

depth- 48cms(not including the baton set on the back to rest the lid open)
