Handsome Antique Pedestal Desk with New Black Leather to top
This is a handsome antique pedestal desk which dates to the mid 19th century.
It is a masculine looking piece which will suit an antique office setting.
The desk is fairly lightweight and is made from pine and mahogany, it is a well aged piece that will make a statement in any room. The desk has the benefit of splitting into three parts making it easy to transport and position in any home.
The desk is set on twin pedestals each housing three graduated drawers which are all finished with later brass drop handles.
Above the pedestals are three further drawers and the top of the desk is inset with a new black leather scriver decorated with embossed tooling.
The wood has a wax polished finish which has a nice sheen.
The desk is in solid structural condition with many cosmetic marks of age and use.
There are many dents, marks and knocks to the wood which give it a very characterful and aged look.
The handles are later replacements, you can just see the original fixing holes hiding behind the new back plates.
We don't have the key, unfortunately it has been lost somewhere in time.
kneehole space measures 59cms high x 51cms wide
The measurements are taken at the widest points and the desk separates into three parts.
