Haberdashery Drawers Shop Counter
This is a handsome bank of haberdashery drawers which dates to the end of the 19th century.
The chest would have once been used in a shop and could serve a variety of purposes.
Made of solid pitch pine this bank of haberdashery drawers is heavy and solid despite its compact size. The front of the chest is fitted with twelve drawers which are finished with aged metal cup handles and the whole thing is set on a deep base plinth.
The wood has a darkly polished finish which has a nice sheen.
The chest is heavy and solid with some costmetic marks of age and use. The top is bowing up slightly at the ends, you can see this if you bend down and look at the chest from eye level. The handles are later replacements and there is some evidence of old wood worm to the base plinth.
