Georgian Elm Corner Cabinet of Modest Proportions & Lovely Character
This is a handsome little antique cabinet which is ideal for a cosy cottage corner.
The cabinet dates to the early 19th century and is made of elm, it is quite heavy and solid despite its fairly compact size and has an evocative look well suited to an antique setting.
The cabinet has canted sides and a single panelled door to the front decorated with an inlaid motif. The door is set on 'H' shaped hinges and opens to reveal two fixed shelves.
The cabinet has brackets to the rear to allow it to be hung on a wall but it could also be used floor standing.
The wood has a lot of character and a natural looking waxed finish.
The cabinet is in good condition with various small marks and knocks.
There are some small repairs but nothing too obvious to spoil its look.
The back has some old inactive wood worm holes.
The measurements are taken at the widest points.
