Georgian Country Oak Cupboard
This is a useful antique country oak cupboard which dates to the early 1800s.
Made of solid oak it is well made and quite heavy but is fairly compact and shallow, the perfect piece for a hallway, kitchen or dining room.
The cupboard is classically styled with double panelled doors to the front which open to reveal two removable shelves which are set over four small drawers to the base. Below the doors are two small pull out shallow drawers and the cupboard is set on bracket feet.
The doors are lockable and the key is present.
The oak is beautifully figured and has a darkly waxed finish which has a nice patina from years of polishing.
The cupboard is in solid structural condition.
Over the years the side panels have bowed out slightly meaning that the shelves only really sit in one position and aren't adjustable as they should be. The shelves are later replacements and the left hand door has had an extra piece of beading added to allow the doors to close well.
There are various marks, knocks and little shrinkage gaps here and there.
width-95.5cms at the base, 100.5cms at the top
depth- 33cms at the base
shelf heights, top 33.5cms, middle 24cms, bottom 30cms
The measurements are taken at the widest points.
