Characterful Antique Bachelors Chest of Drawers with Original Brass Handles

  • £425.00

An attractive and well aged country house antique chest dating to the 19th century.

Made of mahogany and mixed woods the chest is fairly compact and well made with an handsomely aged patina.

The front is fitted with three spacious drawers which are finished with their original brass drop handles, the original drawer locks and brass escutcheons are present but sadly we don't have a key. Set below the top is a pull out brush slide.

The base is set on bracket feet and the wood has a French Polished finish which has dulled over time giving an aged patina which is full of character.

This piece is in solid structural condition with many cosmetic marks of age and use.

The drawer interiors are rather rustic and gappy to the bases, the undersides of the bases have had new bits of wood added to allow the drawers to run more smoothly.

The left side panel has a filled shrinkage crack, the right panel has several unfilled shrinkage cracks. The bottom drawer front has a repair to one side and the pull out brush slide only pulls out about half way.

The left hand front foot is missing some veneer and there are various chips, dents and knocks to the wood. The top of the chest looks like it may have been cut down slightly at the back.

Generally well aged looking and full of character!
