Black Painted Sideboard Chiffonier
This is an attractive and useful antique chiffonier which dates to around 1880.
Made of mahogany, mixed woods and veneers it is fairly lightweight and simply made but quite decorative, a useful storage piece for a lounge, kitchen or dining room.
The sideboard comes in two parts, the base is fitted with two panelled doors which open to reveal a cupboard with fixed shelf. Set over the cupboard are two useful drawers offering storage space for cutlery, paperwork or linens.
The top of the dresser has a very ornately carved mirrored top which is set on turned supports. The mirror is well aged and full of character with foxing to the glass.
I have hand painted this piece in my own mix of black paint before distressing the finish for a gently aged look and waxing the paintwork for protection. The interior has been left in the natural wood.
The paintwork is solid colour with a smooth low sheen finish.
The sideboard is in pretty good structural condition, there are various marks here and there to the wood, a few dents to the top but nothing too major to spoil its look. One side panel has some cracks to the veneer and the other side panel has some small chips to the wood near the base. The mirror is well aged looking.
height - 185cms
width - 119cms
The measurements are taken at the widest points, the chiffonier splits into two parts. The mirrored top will be removed for transportation.
