Austrian or German Pine Bedside Cabinets

  • £325.00

This is an attractive pair of continental bedside cabinets which date to the end of the 19th century.

The cabinets are from either Austria or Germany and are made of solid pine. They are heavy and well made and would have once been part of a solid wood headboard.

The bedside cabinets are modestly sized and sit on cabriole legs, to the front of each there is a small lockable door finished with an applied swag decoration. The doors open to reveal a useful little removable shelf.

The wood has a lovely naturally waxed finish.

The cabinets are in solid structural condition.

As mentioned they were once part of a larger piece of furniture and would have been attached to a large headboard, you can see where the tables were cut away and there is a rather basic patch repair to one side of each cabinet. Each cabinet has a hole in the top near the back and one has a small shrinkage crack to the top, as shown. There is only one key present.

The filled in area isn't very obvious once the cabinets are placed beside a bed.
