Antique Victorian Gothic Black Painted Curio Display Cabinet
This is an unusual little antique cabinet which dates to the late 19th century.
It is a Gothic looking piece which is perfect for displaying curios and small treasured items.
The cabinet has double glazed doors to the front which are flanked by barley twist columns, the doors have decorative fretwork to the top and the original lock is present but sadly the key has been lost somewhere in time.
The doors open to reveal a single removable and adjustable shelf which slots into the sides of the cabinet.
I have hand painted the exterior of the cabinet in my own mix of water based black paint before distressing the finish for a gently aged look. The paintwork is solid colour and has been waxed for protection, the finish has a lovely sheen which looks like ebonized wood.
The cabinet could be mounted on a wall which the addition of some brackets to the back.
The cabinet is in solid structural condition but is quite rustic inside and out. There are various small little bits of wood missing here and there and the wood to the top has warped over the years.
The key for the lock is missing.
