Antique Style Black Painted Pedestal Desk
This is a useful antique reproduction pedestal desk which dates to the late 20th century.
It is an attractive piece which is made from mahogany, mdf and veneers and has the benefit of splitting into three parts, making it easy to transport and position in any home.
The desk is set on twin pedestals each housing three spacious drawers which are finished with ornate drop handles, two are later replacements and do not match the rest but blend in quite well.
Above the pedestals are three further drawers.
I have hand painted the desk in my own mix of black water based paint before very lightly distressing the paintwork and then waxing the finish.
The paintwork is solid colour and the finish is very matt and smooth.
The desk is in solid structural condition with many minor cosmetic marks of age and use and some small repairs.
The desk top is well aged with a small loss to the leather in one corner and various marks, dents and a ring mark.
Two of the handles are later antique replacements and the desk key has been lost somewhere in time.
The drawer interiors have various marks of age and use and there is a small section of beading missing near the base of one pedestal.
Basically it has an aged and well used look.
kneehole space measures 60cms high x 52cms wide
The measurements are taken at the widest points and the desk separates into three parts.
