Antique Pine Bank of Drawers Plan Chest
This is a handsome antique cabinet which is ideal for use in an office or workshop, it was originally designed for use as a small plan chest or collectors cabinet but would be perfect for tools, artwork or sewing supplies, a versatile piece which could serve a variety of purposes in any home.
The chest dates to the late 19th century and is made of solid pine, it is heavy and solid, despite its fairly compact size, and has an evocative look well suited to an antique setting.
The cabinet has double panelled doors to the front which are lockable. The right hand door has a brass handle which has to be turned to open the door. The doors open to reveal an arrangement of five graduated drawers which are all finished with small turned wooden handles. Each drawer front is finished with a small brass label holder.
The chest is set on a narrow base plinth and the wood has a natural looking waxed finish.
The chest is in good condition with various small marks and knocks.
The cabinet once had a painted finish, there are remnants of paint here and there and the wood is fairly rustic looking.
