Antique Flemish Carved Oak Green Man Sideboard with Mirror Top & Carved Figures
This is a superb antique Flemish dresser which dates to around 1900.
Made of solid oak it is heavy, solid and well made but has the benefit of splitting into two parts making it easier to transport and position in any home.
This piece has an evocative Gothic country look which will suit a large room. It is a very grand piece and is in lovely condition for its age.
The dresser base has ornately carved doors featuring central Green Man masks surrounded by carved foliage. The doors open to reveal a single wide, removable shelf.
Above the doors are two wide drawers with ornate drop handles and decorative carvings.
The top of the dresser consists of a large removable mirror which is flanked by beautiful carved figures of a man and a woman playing instruments, dressed in traditional costumes. The top is heavily carved with beautiful detailing.
The wood has a naturally waxed finish which has a pleasant sheen.
This piece is in solid structural condition with various small marks of age and use to the wood.
There is evidence of old historical woodworm to the back and other marks and knocks to the wood which give it a lot of character.
We don't have a key for the doors so have fitted internal catches to keep the doors closed.
width- 153.5cms at the top, 151cms at the base
