Anglo Indian Storage Chest with Ornate Carvings and Key

  • £375.00

This is an attractive antique Anglo Indian chest which dates to the Victorian era. It would have possibly been a used as a dowry chest and is very ornate, a beautifully made piece from another era.

Made of oak the chest is solid and heavy with profuse carvings to the top and sides and faint decorative etching to the top edges.

The chest is the size of a narrow blanket chest and could be used in any room for storage and display purposes. It is set on bracket feet and the top is fitted with a lockable lift up lid, there is a replacement key which works well.

The chests interior is quite plain and unfinished, it may have once been lined with fabric.

To either side the chest is fitted with a twisted brass drop handle.

The wood has a natural waxed finish.

The chest is in good structural condition with various cosmetic marks and knocks here and there to the wood. The etched design to the top has worn away over time.

The lid has to be pushed down to lock it into place.
