Painted Housekeepers cabinet, Farrow and Ball Drop Cloth
This is a useful country style dresser or 'housekeepers' cabinet which dates to the late 20th century, it is solid, heavy and well made from reclaimed pine.
The dresser is traditionally styled with open shelves to the top set over two panelled doors. It is ideal for use in a lounge, dining room or kitchen, perfect for books, kitchen equipment or simply for display purposes.
The dresser is set on a deep base plinth and the top is finished with graduated cornicing.
The right hand door has an aged brass knob which turns to lock the doors closed.
I have hand painted the exterior in 'Drop Cloth' from Farrow and Ball, an elegant earthy stone colour. The interior of the top section has been painted in my own mix of pale blue called 'Faded Chambray', a shade that contrasts beautifully against the pale exterior.
The paintwork is solid colour and has been left undistressed for a clean and contemporary look.
The paintwork been waxed for protection, it has a smooth fairly matt finish.
This piece is in good structural condition with many small cosmetic marks of age and use. There are a lot of little imperfections to the wood and three small knots of wood missing in the panelled pine back.
